November 2011 Organ Concert
On November 13th, Linda Gardner performed an organ recital at Church of the Ascension. As the parish organist, Linda performed "A Sweet for Mother Goose" by George Akerley, a narrated piece of 6 Mother Goose rhymes. Included in her other pieces, were 2 pieces by H. Leslie Adams, a composer, music director and organist from the Cleveland area, www.hleslieadams.com. He was present for Linda's performance of his 2 pieces "Prelude and Fugue" and "Offertory of Love".

The Ascension Fine Arts Committee works to provide free arts events for our congregation and neighborhood residents. We provide a minimum of 4 concerts for varying age groups and genres.
We have sponsored:
- The annual Coles Dusenbury Choral Festival, featuring area public school choirs.
- The Singing Boys of Rockford Illinois, a wonderful boy choir.
- The Ohio Boy Choir
- The Lullaby Concert, a concert for children in pre-school to attend in their pajamas, featuring the Lakewood High School Chamber Orchestra, a story-teller and lullabies for singing.
- The Baldwin-Wallace Alumni Brass Collective
- Organ recitals featuring our wonderful organist – Linda Gardner
- Choirs from traveling college Choirs
We look forward to sponsoring other arts events for the enjoyment of all who attend.
All concerts are free, with a free-will offering taken.
